===Assistive Technology Conference - LDA of Washington State===

  • What:
  • When: Saturday, November 7th from 8:30 am - 1:00 pm
  • Where:
  • Who: This event that is open to LDA members and non-members in Washington State (predominately in Seattle/Eastside areas).
  • CEUs

This year are hosting a Technology Event – on Saturday, November 7th from 8:30 am - 1:00 pm. Each of you has great tech backgrounds so this will make a fabulous panel and event. Holding the event on a Saturday morning for four hours allows teachers to receive CEUs if they are interested.

We are working with Hamlin-Robinson school (who will have moved into a new facility by November 2015) as the “host – easy to get to and they will have a new lab and training environment set up.

The draft plan is to have each of you talk (panel style) and then have an open lab (like Georgia Tech and the UW have set up at the LDA exhibit hall) where parents, teachers, adults, children can become exposed to the technology they may need for middle school, high school, and postsecondary/work. I am expecting that the UW and Georgia Tech would coordinate bringing tools for the demonstration/hands on portion.

The tentative working Agenda:

8:30 am Registration 9:00 am Opening/Introductions 9:15 - 10:45 am Panelist Presentations and demonstrations of some of the technology (Georgia Tech, UW and Dr. Dupuy) (about 15-20 minutes each with Q & A after) 10:45 - 11:00 am Break 11:00 - 12:50 pm Hands-on experiential learning with demonstrations in the “lab” 12:50 - 1:00 pm Wrap-up
