Tuesday June 28, 2016

AMAC Training Room - Atlanta, GA

Presenters:

  • Martha Rust, AMAC, Tools for Life at Georgia Tech, Atlanta, GA
  • Rachel Wilson, AMAC, Tools for Life at Georgia Tech, Atlanta, GA

Session Overview:

This training focuses on successful ways to teach older adults how to navigate their smart devices effectively. We trained on the accessibility features that are offered in devices such as tablets and smartphones. We focused on Apple devices as a starting point to this training, since there are so many accessibility features built into the devices. We showed VoiceOver, touch accommodations, assistive touch as well as others that could be beneficial to aging adults. We also included beneficial apps that can allow a person to be more independent.
